Hi All,
This is Erica, Togo's Mom, writing in to share Togo's Meant to be Monday Story. In January of 2008 my first dog passed suddenly. For many years since her passing I wanted my next dog to be a border collie and given my very active lifestyle, this breed I thought would be the perfect fit. I had spent many months researching breeders, sending emails, chatting with friends who had a border and looking up adoption agencies that rescued borders to see if they would let a Newfoundland resident adopt. One morning I had become frustrated with my search, a search that only seemed to leave me with setbacks and no's. I popped on Facebook to change my train of thought and there he was. Sitting at the top of my news feed was a post by the Gander SPCA, they had just gotten a new shipment of puppies in. I immediately filled out an application for this "little" pup named Togo, a husky mix from Natuashish, Labrador. I just had to have him! I later found out that Togo had a rough start in life, he was found in a puddle at nearly two weeks of age with some severe frostbite on his paws and tail. He was also born with an entropion that would require surgery when he was a little older. Today Togo is 6 months old, is healthy as a horse, has two sisters and a brother. He enjoys frolicking in the water, trail running and hiking, chasing his favourite ball in the garden and tormenting his cat sister, Meredith. You should always expect the unexpected, Togo has brought so much laughter and joy to our little fur family and we wouldn't have it any other way! Thanks Again :) Togo sends his Love and Sloppiness <3 |
